ODJFS Training

Ohio Department of Job & Family Services (ODJFS) is the organization that governs child care providers in the state of Ohio.  AIR Child Care Training Solutions has spent years working with ODJFS Training in efforts to assist with providing quality professional development.  AIR continues to advocate on behalf of child care organizations and providers to set the highest standards for this training.

The Bureau of Child Care and Development also known as BCCD releases news and updates at the following web address:  http://jfs.ohio.gov/cdc/BCCD_News.stm. This is where ODJFS posts updates to policies, licensing, CCIDS, Step Up To Quality and other pertinent information.

Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) is a voluntary five–star quality rating system administered by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) and the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). Step Up To Quality recognizes and promotes learning and development programs that meet quality benchmarks over and above minimum health and safety licensing standards.

http://www.earlychildhoodohio.org/sutq_resources.php  is a website that gives more information about the Step Up To Quality program in Ohio. Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) is a program designed to help Ohio meet its vision of “All children are valued, healthy, and happy.” This is accomplished through ensuring that children have high quality early care and education supports in environments, allowing children to have supports and services to promote their comprehensive healthy development, and helping families to have meaningful community and parenting supports.

To receive a 1, 2, or 3 star Step Up To Quality rating within a program, one of the requirements is that administrators, lead teachers and assistant teachers must receive a minimum of 20 clock hours of approved Step Up To Quality specialized training every two years. To go higher in the star rating, one of the requirements is 5-10 more hours of Step Up To Quality specialized training.

AIR has worked with Ohio Department of Job & Family Services and Ohio Child Care Resource & Referral Association (OCCRRA) to provide this Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) training in an online format.  This delivery method helps ODJFS accomplish goals in the Race To The Top Early Learning Challenge Grant (RTT-ELCG).  The goal is to assist child care providers in obtaining professional development opportunities where they live.  While the Ohio Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies located throughout the state assist with face to face opportunities, AIR is the first to provide child care with Step Up To Quality Training (SUTQ) in an online delivery method.
