Halloween is approaching, and the season for spooky-themed classroom crafts and activities is here. Resources are abundant for Halloween-themed classroom activities, so we decided to share some of our favorites. Here are eight easy classroom activities that all your little witches and wizards are sure to love!

Spooky Slime

Little Bins for Little Hands has a page full of Halloween-themed slime recipes for kids to make. You probably already have most of the ingredients needed to make slime in your home or classroom already. Grab your glue and plastic spiders and create your slime masterpiece! 

Tip: For young children, swap out craft supplies with edible supplies (such as corn starch) to make slime that is not harmful if ingested. 

Pumpkin Seeds

Suppose you are looking for a fun and Halloween-themed activity that can also be educational. In that case, Fun-A-Day has a pumpkin seeds activity that is perfect for teaching children how to write their names and learn about colors and sorting. You can dye the pumpkin seeds different colors, and the children can glue them on paper in the form of shapes or words. The best part is - it doesn’t take much prep work but will keep the kids busy!

Puffy Ghosts

This activity, by VCDiy, Decor, and more, is perfect for young children since it is relatively easy and does not take much preparation. All you need to do is pre-cut paper in the shapes of ghosts and allow students to glue cotton balls onto their ghost, complete with paper facial features or googly eyes. After the craft has had time to dry, you can tape or glue a piece of yarn to the back so you can hang them up. 

Spooky Tic-Tac-Toe

We love this idea for spooky tic-tac-toe by Smashed Peas and Carrots. In this activity, they use painted rocks that look like Frankensteins, pumpkins, and ghosts to play a game of tic-tac-toe. Painting the stones would be a perfect craft that can be used another day for this activity. However, you can also use plastic spiders as tic-tac-toe placeholders. 

Handprint Ghosts

For an easy craft for children of all ages, try handprint ghosts. With adult supervision, children can place a handprint of paint (non-toxic and child-safe, of course) onto a piece of colored construction paper and add googly eyes or draw features onto their ghosts. 

Googly Eye Frame

This craft by CraftBits will be perfect if you are planning on hosting a “Halloween party” for your classroom. All you need are simple wooden frames (even from the dollar store), googly eyes, paint, and glue. After the children decorate their frames, you can take a picture of them with their Halloween costume to put in the frame, or send it home to fill with a photo on their own. 

Egg Carton Bats

NoBiggie has a craft for egg carton bats that uses egg cartons, cut into rows of three, and painted black to look like bats. These bats are completed with googly eyes and ribbon glued to them, allowing them to hang up in the classroom or at the child’s home. 

Haunted House 

This activity can be done in groups or with your children at home. You can purchase a gingerbread house kit and buy candy-corn, plastic spiders, and whatever other decorations you want for your haunted gingerbread house. Then, they can be displayed in the classroom for the Halloween season or sent home with children. Multiple websites sell Halloween-themed gingerbread house kits. The children are sure to love snacking on the candy while making the craft.
