What childcare training resources exist in Idaho?

The Idaho STARS oversees all services, programs, and facilities pertaining to early childhood and out of school learning. Idaho STARS is also the home to all of Idaho childcare professional development, quality improvement, and licensing tools. While there are many great tools available to childcare professionals from the Idaho STARS, here’s two that we’ve found to be very useful.

The Idaho STARS Professional Development Registry System  offers opportunities for members of the Idaho early childhood workforce to increase their knowledge and skills. This professional development system recognizes the achievements of early childhood professionals.

Scholarships  are given by Idaho STARS to assist early childhood providers to aid in financial planning towards meeting professional development requirements. Scholarship information can be found in the RISE and the PDS. In order to qualify for scholarships, employees must work a minimum of 15 hours a week directly with parents, children, and staff in a year-round program.

How many hours of ongoing training do childcare providers need in Idaho?

According to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare: Ongoing Training Facts and Guidelines, each employee is required to receive four (4) hours of ongoing training every twelve (12) months after the employee’s hire date.
