Physical activity is very important in early childhood. It can help students deal with increased stress, obesity, improve cognitive function for academic work, decrease discipline challenges, and increase student engagement. It also leads to a healthier person – emotionally, mentally and physically. This training highlights the social emotional, behavioral, and cognitive benefits of active learning, reviews the research on the benefits of providing opportunities for physical activity throughout the day, and provides demonstrations of a variety of active learning ideas you can take back and use in your early childhood setting.
