Most preschool classrooms have a play center, but few have literacy-enriched play centers where children develop oral language skills, build vocabulary, and practice invented spelling. In this workshop, we will share examples of literacy-rich play centers that expose children to valuable print experiences. We will discuss the value of sustained play, how to develop mature play, and go over the teacher's role.
